TODAY BRITANY LOOKED AS IF SHE HAS A SORE EYE. SHE LAID ME AN EGG TODAY ,THAT WAS GOOD. SO SHE SAT IN HER NEST BOX THIS MORNING WHEN THE OTHER CHOOKS WERE IN THE GARDEN.

THE POULTRY SHOW!!!

I decided to enter 3 of my lovely Bantams in the Nelson Poultry & Pigeon Show.

I bathed them using Lux flakes then blow-dried them before puting them by the firein our lounge for the night. in the morning I put Olive Oil on each of their beak and wottles

before taking them out to the show. I felt very proud of them and I was very excited when I saw that BRITANY WON BEST JUNIOR POULTRY Ribbon, TABATHA WON BEST JUNIOR FANCY BANTAM Ribbon, POLAR WON FIRST PRIZE IN THE JUNIOR IN AOC FANCY BANTAM SECTION. Here they are in the Show

Today Lottie is stoped being broody she sits outside with the other chooks. Lottie likes the mash and cabidge she likes to play with Brittany'

How many chickens ive got.

Today I built a new roost for the chickens. They like the new roost. It is very high. But the little chickens like sitting on top of the nest box i try to keep them off the nest box because they jump beside Lizzie' the broody one' and she pecks them.

I used 28mm dowling. and I measured the width of the chicken house. Then I sawed the dowling to the right length. I screwed the fittings to the walls and then I sandpapered the ends of the dowlings and pushed the perch into the fittings.

Today Brittany laid me a nice brown egg. She always always makes me brown eggs. She laid it beside lizzy; the broody one. So i had to take it from her. Brttany came out to play in the garden. Then she went Book Book to tell me that there is an egg.

Lottie with her 5 eggs.

Today Lottie is still on her 5 eggs. She turns them every day. She looks after them very well and keeps them warm. Lottie takes a short break to eat and drink then she gets back on her eggs again.

Lizzie goes broody

Today Lizzy started to go broody. I hope not because she was broody before and she pecks the other chickens and tries to go in the nest box. I have taken the straw out of the nest box and replaced it with sawdust.

One of lotties eggs Yesterday.

Yesterday I went into the chicken house to pick up Brittany's egg. I looked over where Lottie's nest box was and saw Lottie get off her eggs . She went outside to eat so I walked over to look at the eggs and noticed that one of them had a crack in it. So we took the eggs inside to have a look with a bright light. I think I could see the big air sac inside each of the eggs. We moved Lottie out of the old nest box and put her in the other coop. Then we and put the new chickens I was given last week in with the big chooks. So today Lottie came out to have somthing to eat and drink. Then she hoped back on the eggs again.

Chickens Day.

Yesterday the little chicks & the big chooks played outside in the dirt. They loved playing in the dirt and made big holes and a big mess. They like digging in the garden and in the dirt.
When I open the coop door they rush out and run across the lawn to play in the garden.
Brittany jumps over the water bowl and the dust bath. They like sleeping on the nest box but I try to put them on the perch just beside Lottie, the broody one.

New Frizzle Bantam

On Thursday I got a new bantam Frizzle from Jill. The Frizzle chick is black and she likes to eat the mash I make the chooks.

Yesterday Lizzy was playing in the coop run. She loves the coop run. Lizzy drinks clean cold water, grass, mash, wheat and our vegetable scraps.

Today Brittany laid a brown egg. She goes "book book" when she has finished laying an egg.

Yesterday Lizzy laid an egg in the nest beside Lottie, the broody chicken with it's green eggs. When Lizzy finishes laying an egg she warms the egg. Then when she has finished warming the eggs she will hop off. Then I get the eggs out the nest box for me to have for breakfast.

Lottie is sitting on her baby chick's eggs in her nest box today. She came out for just a little while to have something to eat and drink. Lottie has been broody for 2 & a half weeks on the nest box.

Today i Had a nice soft eggs. With Toast. The egg was one of Brittanys eggs.

On Sunday I was given some eggs to put under Lottie because she is broody. Lottie spends nearly all day on the eggs. She only leaves them for a few minutes while she eats and drinks.
